South Africa to begin India tour with T20 on October 2
The right-hand batsman who is 42-year-old now, has retired from ODI cricket after 2015 World Cup, is hopeful that the neighbours would once again clash with each other, after officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) held talks for a potential series later in 2015. Bengaluru will host the second Test from November 14 to 18 and Nagpur the third from November 25 to 29.
Fans, brace yourselves as the India vs South Africa series prepares itself to keep you occupied this October and November. The T20Is will be played in Dharamsala, Cuttack and Kolkata.
This will be followed by 5 ODIs on October 11, 14, 18, 22 and 25 at Kanpur, Indore, Rajkot, Chennai and Mumbai. “I am delighted to confirm, together with the BCCI, the Proteas’ itinerary for our tour of India later this year”, commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.
“Both countries are now working to develop this into an icon series”. During the 72-day period, the Proteas will play three-Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), five-One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and four-Tests.
“If the series against India happens, I want to play that series and probably retire from global cricket”.
South Africa have drawn their previous two Test series in India, the last in 2010, but claimed a 2-0 series win in 2000, their only success in five visits since readmission to worldwide cricket in 1992.
South Africa’s talismanic captain AB de Villiers is scheduled to play his 100th Test at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
