South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn to endorse Clinton on Friday
Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are in a dead heat to win the Nevada caucuses, and both campaigns have launched last-minute efforts to win over voters – including Latino voters.
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and Sen.
“As president, I will do everything that I can to pass immigration reform and a path toward citizenship for those who today are undocumented”, he said Thursday on MSNBC. “I really like Bernie’s ideas, but I think that (Republicans are) really gonna try to hammer him on the socialist side of it, even though he’s a social Democrat”.
She turned to the crowd, saying, “It’s true…”
A NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday showed Clinton leading Sanders by 53 percent to 42 percent compared to the 59 percent to 34 percent lead she held last month. And you’ve certainly seen that with Bernie where you’ve seen leadership of particular unions go with Hillary Clinton, and you’ve seen their members, you know, nearly rebel and say, you know, yes, you’ve made this decision, but that’s not what we agree with.
One Nevada Democrat said the fact the race is close shows Clinton is no longer an unassailable front-runner.
Asked about Clinton’s criticism of that proposal as not feasible, Bledsoe says she “definitely” agrees it’s a “reasonable criticism, because when I first saw that, I kind of raised a brow as well”. “What’s the difference? Gee, maybe the colour of our skin”.
Clyburn’s support comes the day before Nevada’s Democratic caucuses – the first test of whether Clinton’s organizational strength and advantages among minority voters can withstand a challenge from Vermont Sen. In the town hall meeting, they vowed to make reforming the country’s immigration system a top priority of their administrations, should either win the White House.
Clinton admitted, once again, that she had “evolved” on the issue – and was “glad” to have done so. Clinton was pressed on why she has refused to release transcripts of the paid speeches she delivered to some of the country’s largest financial institutions. “I’m asking people to support me because I think I’m the most qualified, experienced, and ready person to be the president and the commander- in-chief”. “Every other candidate in this race has given speeches to private groups, including Senator Sanders”.
South Carolina Democrats hold their primary on February 27, a week after Saturday’s Nevada caucuses.
Hillary Clinton has picked up endorsements from 87 more superdelegates to the Democratic National Convention, dwarfing Sanders’ gain from the New Hampshire primary, according to a new Associated Press survey. John Edwards (N.C.) came in second and took votes from both Clinton and Barack Obama.
Clinton’s campaign has argued that as voters learned more about his record, Sanders will begin to lose support.
Sanders said he opposed it because it contained a provision about guest workers that the senator likened to slavery.
Now, I will tell that to young people, because a lot of them may not be familiar with that history.
And Clinton’s foreign policy experience is one of the things that gives her an edge over Sanders.
“We are doing well with young people, we are doing increasingly well with young African Americans, young Latinos”, Sanders said.
