South Korea fires warning shots after North Korean drone crosses border
Relations are at boiling point after the secretive state conducted the test before declaring it is on the verge of war with South Korea just days later.
“I have been watching the direction of the wind for the last few hours as I was planning to send the leaflets to North Korea after 5 this morning”, said Park.
“Whoever comes into office about a year from now is going to be dealing with an exponentially worse problem than we are dealing with today”, said Cha.
Park vowed Wednesday to continue loudspeaker broadcasts across the Demilitarized Zone that have angered the North, apparently rejecting Britain’s call to halt the barrage of propaganda and pop music to avoid further escalating the latest crisis on the peninsula.
Top nuclear envoys from Japan, South Korea and the United States on Wednesday agreed to push for “meaningful and new sanctions” in response to North Korea’s latest globally condemned nuclear test, according to USA envoy Sung Kim.
There would also be a greater danger that a transfer of North Korean technology could help Iran get past some obstacles that analysts believe it now faces in its missile delivery experiments.
However China, as veto-wielding permanent member of the Security Council, is seen as key to imposing those sanctions. This claim has been largely dismissed by experts, who argue the yield was too low for a full-fledged thermonuclear device.

Bitterly antagonized by the South Korean action, the North has reportedly reinforced frontline troops.

South Korea’s Defense Ministry couldn’t immediately confirm the report.
In a televised speech, President Park Geun-hye said the South was seeking “effective sanctions that will make North Korea feel bone-numbing pain”.
In a show of strength on Sunday, a nuclear-capable US B-52 bomber – flanked by South Korean F-15 fighter jets and US F-16 planes – flew over Osan Air Base, some 70 kilometres (45 miles) south of the inter-Korean border.
“What we are concerned about here is the miniaturization of nuclear warheads that fit onto its most reliable missiles”, Royce said Monday on the House floor.
The other foreigner known to be in detention in North Korea, and who CNN was also given access to, is Hyeon Soo Lim, a South Korean-born Canadian who was the head pastor at one of Canada’s largest churches.
To become law, the legislation must be passed by the U.S. Senate and signed by President Obama.
The test angered its main ally, China, as well as the United States.
The “unidentified flying object” entered South Korean territory by some “tens of metres”, military officials said. Also included for the first time in a North Korea sanctions bill were terms for a secondary boycott, considered a particularly stringent form of sanction.
While other countries are trying to come up with sanctions against North Korea, Kim called upon his country to boost its nuclear capabilities.
