‘South Park’ savages Caitlyn Jenner, Donald Trump in controversial episode
Controversial satirical cartoon Southpark has taken a potshot at USA presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker went after Trump and his Mexican immigration mantra, using an elaborate allegory involving Canadian immigrants and a Canadian version of the billionaire mogul to satirize the current political landscape in the U.S. That inspires recurring character Mr. Garrison to run a Trump-like campaign to rid the country of the new immigrants.
Back in South Park, news of the Canadian president been “f***** to death” causes fervour among the crowds and the Canadians return home in fear. He didn’t really offer any solutions.
The two get into an argument and let’s just say, in the end (literally) it doesn’t go well for “The Donald”. Nobody thought he would really be the president, he was a joke. It was a joke.
“We should have put up a God damn wall”, he said at the beginning of the episode, and his extreme views eventually get him fired from his job at South Park elementary school.
“Now I might not understand politics, or immigration policies, or the law, or basic ideological concepts”, Garrison, absorbing a great deal of Trump’s spirit and style, tells supporters. The central theme of the last night’s episode was mostly immigration and it garnered a hell lot of pre-air buzz which made the episode’s viewership rise to some degree.
“Garrison gathers a following when he begins to give speeches about his animosity over illegal immigrants, and he asserts there is only one way to handle the problem: “fornicate them all the death”. “The Canadian president has been f***ed to death!” Wow. “We weren’t paying attention!”‘
This is far from the first time the Comedy Central series, now in its 19th season, has gone dark or controversial with its humor.
There was no mention of the episode on Trump’s Twitter page Thursday afternoon.
Say what you will about South Park, but it’s never boring or safe, and “Where’s My Country Gone?” was no exception.
