South Park to feature Deflategate reference in upcoming episode
So when the show kicked off its 19th season this past Wednesday, you knew they’d tackle the biggest story from the summer, Deflategate.
As you might expect, the new season of South Park, now back for the 19th time and never afraid to take on a sports-related controversy, dove right in on Deflategate.
After some convincing from his friends, Cartman decides he will fight against the punishment like his “hero” Tom Brady.
“F*** you, I broke the rules… you’re breaking the rules!”
In a new teaser that Comedy Central posted on Monday, Sept. 14, self-centered, spoiled little brat Cartman angrily paces the halls of South Park Elementary, livid that he’s been given detention. The highlight was a dream Cartman had in which Brady, Goodell and Bill Belichick – all depicted as Cartman, of course – bickered back and forth about who broke the rules.
But in the name of sharing, I’ll share this video with you.
For 18 seasons, “South Park” has become known for addressing issues in pop culture and finding a way to spin it into parody. In response to a South Park Studios, he’ll make the boys face the injury they’ve achieved “by way of their historical past of racism and unconscious bias”.
The creators of the show, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, both from Colorado, are Denver Broncos fans, according to The Hollywood Reporter, making the dig at Brady a pretty easy one.
