Southampton braced for ‘take it or leave it
Two weeks ago, Koeman rejected United’s offer of £20 million and said that, “Every player has his price and we have experience as a club of selling players”.
Morgan Schneiderlin won more tackles (79) than any Southampton player in the league last season. But it has to be at the price the club wants.
Schneiderlin has been one of the most talked about players of the transfer window so far after enjoying another excellent season at Southampton where he helped them secure a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League.
However, having missed the final games of last season through injury, it is likely that van Gaal will want to have his new man available for as long as possible before their opening game against Tottenham, so he can work out how he fits into the side.
The report added that if the deal comes to fruition, Koeman is hoping to have Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie as a replacement for the Frenchman.
‘I had a lot of meetings with Morgan.
“He’s a good player, a young player and a Dutch global who is ready to make a step up and show his qualities at a higher level than we have in the Dutch league”.
Ronald Koeman has revealed that the club are willing to sell the player, but only if the interested club matches the valuation of the St Mary’s outfit, which is said to be around the £27m mark, according to the Guardian.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but if Schneiderlin is going to be on the flight to California on Monday then United will have to get a fee agreed pretty quickly.
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip.
