Souths Favourite To Sign Robbie Farah?
“… Call it naivety, I don’t know what you call it. They were trying to play “Fantasy League” with real players but other people’s money instead of looking at it as a business”.
“I kind of had an inkling for a few weeks now, but obviously had a chat yesterday with JT [coach Jason Taylor] and my manager, and that was kind of when it was clear”, Farah told a news conference on Wednesday.
Farah, who plays his final home game against the Warriors at Campbelltown on Sunday before finishing the season against St George-Illawarra at ANZ Stadium, said he was heartbroken to have been denied a farewell at Leichhardt.
However the 31-year-old feared fans might have to watch him play at Henson Park next season should he decide to stay.
Elias, a former Australian captain and NSW Origin representative, said the handling of Farah’s prospective departure is another sign of club dysfunction.
“I’ve been told if I stay, I might be playing reserve grade… or I will be playing reserve grade”.
Early reports tip Farah to move to the South Sydney Rabbitohs to replace hooker Issac Luke, and where his brother Eddie Farah is head physio.
The tough hooker said he wouldn’t simply walk away from the club where he made his NRL debut in 2003.
“I thought that was the right thing to do for Robbie and the club, and if he was still going well at the end of the two years you could have kept him on”. Not to have one last game there and a farewell to the fans is a dagger in my heart. But you don’t sign a 30-year-old for four years, I don’t think.
He might have two years to run on his contract but Wests Tigers skipper Robbie Farah looks like he will be parting ways with the club.
He was a member of their 2005 Premiership-winning team and was made a life member of the club in 2013.
Potter had an ugly fall out with Farah and club management and was sacked at the end of last season after two hard years in charge of the joint-venture club.
