Southwest Airlines says technology issues delay some flights
The airline said on Sunday there were problems with it’s website, mobile app and in reservations centers and airports across the system.
“We are experiencing technology issues today which is requiring us to process customers manually”, reads a message on the company’s website. His flight took off roughly 15 minutes after its scheduled departure time of 4:30.
According to the airline, the ongoing problem caused more than 450 flights to be delayed.
The airline says its airport workers are helping customers with travel plans and at LAX free pizza.
Southwest is one of the busiest carriers at Los Angeles, Burbank, Orange County and San Diego airports.
Southwest, which had 3,600 flights schedule Sunday, said it was working to fix the problem.
Passengers are reporting long delays as a result of the mixup, with a few passengers describing the Southwest delays as a weekend at Disney due to the lines.

Emily Mitnick, attempting to fly from Denver worldwide Airport to Detroit, told the AP she missed her 10 a.m. flight, even though she pulled into the airport parking lot at about 8 a.m.
“Lots of people lots of luggage nobody knows where they’re going or what they’re doing”, said Rachel Morgenthal.
By the time she got on line to go through security, it was around 10.15am. American Airlines experienced a computer failure last month, which caused halting of flights to three of its largest United States destinations for almost two hours.
