‘Spectre’ breaks record for world’s biggest explosion
James Bond’s latest adventure is breaking all kinds of box-office records right now, but the film also broke one particularly explosive record before it hit theaters.
Twenty six entries in, the James Bond movies are nearly like their own genre.
All the Bonds are there – Daniel Craig, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan – creating the famous pose where Bond stops dead on one foot and shoots the camera. Telling the story of Bond’s first mission, “Casino Royale” sets up a complex thread which runs through all four Daniel Craig 007 films, culminating in this year’s “Spectre”.
In fact, I feel like last week’s preview may still be screening.
Spectre, the latest offering from the James Bond franchise has emerged as the second highest opener at the box-office of all its instalments so far, according to Forbes magazine and trade data reported by the worldwide press.
SPECTRE has been awarded a Guinness World Records title for the Largest Film Stunt Explosion. From this breathtaking opening, via Sam Smith’s theme song “Writing’s on the Wall” (unfortunately pretty bland), we are introduced to Bond’s quest to find Franz Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz), the head of criminal organisation SPECTRE – a regular foe of Connery and Moore’s Bonds.
“Spectre”, which is the 24th installment, will be screened in cinemas in the United States on November 15 with many critics already giving the film positive reviews. That troupe is overused in many films and takes away from the beauty of their efficiency. These actions result in Bond being suspended and having to work-with the help of Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), Q (Ben Whishaw), and Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux)-behind MI6’s back in order to discover more about the shadowy “Spectre” organization.
In addition to kisses, kills and cocktails, James Bond films are filled with another trademark feature: explosions.
He even made the classic bad guy mistake of telling Bond his grand plan. They’re beautifully shot and appropriately inserted – it doesn’t seem useless or forced for Bond to be traveling so much, especially at this point in the series.
