SPECTRE Spends 24 Million Pounds Destroying Aston Martins
The Daily Mail reports that James Bond will wreck $37 million (€32.8 million) worth of Aston Martins in the film, because director Sam Mendes and the producers insisted on doing practical effects, as opposed to creating the crashes and the explosions on a computer.
A whopping £24million worth of flash cars were blown up, the most in movie history. The team of the film was on a vehicle crashing spree in different places including Rome.
In cinema, James Bond has been played by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and most recently by Daniel Craig. The action thriller is based on the story of a British secret service whose ace spy, Mr. James Bond solves impossible cases that involve near death experience action sequences.
Chief stunt co-ordinator Gary Powell said: “We set the record for smashing up cars”. A source close to The Mirror has it on good authority that Damian Lewis has been given the “unofficial nod” to take over the part after Craig hands in his Walther PPK. They were going into the Vatican at 175km/h. A video from the set of Spectre focuses on a auto chase in Rome between James Bond’s Aston Martin DB10 and the Jaguar C-X75 driven by baddie Mr Hinx (Dave Bautista).
A crime drama about the US-Mexico drug trade, Sicario was one of the films to make a real splash at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Well after hearing about all the expensive destruction made for the movie, we surely hope ‘Spectre’ shatters box office records too.
