Speculation surrounds Van Gaal future despite Man United’s insistence that
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is ready to solve his striker crisis after it was revealed the Dutchman is lining up a sensational £51million offer for Robert Lewandowski.
The fans at Old Trafford chanted Mourinho’s name during the 2-1 defeat to Norwich on Sunday and have grown frustrated with Van Gaal’s methods.
However, the Manchester Evening News reported Woodward attended a commercial-related discussion at United’s London office, rather than decide the beleaguered Van Gaal’s fate as other outlets suggested.
The unadventurous style of play exhibited by Van Gaal’s team has also drawn criticism from a host of former United players, most notably Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand.
“The most important support is from the players because the players have to do it on the pitch and the chemistry between the players and the manager and his staff is very important”.
With a Boxing Day trip to the Britannia Stadium followed by a mouth-watering clash against reigning champions Chelsea at Old Trafford two days later, van Gaal is desperate for points.
Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea last week following a poor run of results for the Blues, but has instantly been linked with returning to management at Old Trafford. Fergie’s chosen successor David Moyes was sacked before he had completed his first season in charge, with van Gaal appointed later that summer.
Mourinho is rightly regarded as one of the best managers in the world but there is a question mark over his long-term suitability and whether or not he actually leaves a club in a better state than when he started.
Louis van Gaal was left hoping for a stay of execution over Christmas after speculation mounted.
The waters are clouded further by the fact Pep Guardiola has revealed he will be leaving his post at Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
Asked if he thinks Giggs should be in line to make the move up, Round told Sky Sports: “I would hope so, I think that is the right and proper succession plan for Manchester United”.
With sources claiming Man United are interested in Jose Mourinho, ESPN FC’s Shaka Hislop says he comes with too much baggage.
