Spicer on Calls for Russia Special Prosecutor: ‘A Special Prosecutor for What?’
“What we’re doing is actually urging reporters to engage with subject-matter experts who can corroborate whether something’s accurate or not”, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.
The FBI is also investigating the Russian Federation controversy.
Regarding an effort to contain fallout from a New York Times story that alleged Flynn’s phone call wasn’t the only contact Trump’s team had with Russians, did the administration improperly use the Federal Bureau of Investigation and members of the both the Senate and House Intelligence committees for its own political benefit?
House Intelligence Chair Devin Nunes met reporters this morning, and responded to questions over his committee’s investigation into whether President Trump’s associates had ties to Russian Federation during the presidential campaign or after. “If I could give you just one little bit of advice”, Reagan said from Camp David, the presidential retreat, “when somebody tells you to get in a vehicle quick, do it”, according to CNN.
Spicer argued Friday that CNN had misreported a series of exchanges between Reince Priebus, White House chief of staff, and leaders of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the wake of the Times report.
On Friday, Reporters from CNN, the New York Times, Politico and a variety of other major news organizations were blocked from attending the White House press briefing.
He continued later: “How many people have to say there’s nothing there before you realize there’s nothing there?”
He added: “I am only against the fake news media or press. But I can’t control what you guys write”.
Spicer said Nunes “reached out” to the White House and volunteered to talk to reporters on their behalf.
That story was a little odd, I thought, because if you ask me to contact the White House and said, hey, could you set me up with somebody at DOD or the intelligence agencies, I would say sure. “There’s nothing wrong with that”, he said. This year’s will most likely be remembered for Trump’s absence. “Because they have no sources, they just make them up when there are none”, President Trump said. “A government can’t function with massive leaks at the highest level of our President talking to foreign leaders”. “I also think it’s just politics”.
Trump said Tuesday that he hadn’t “called Russian Federation in 10 years”. No one really enjoys this, per say, but the president always goes.
“General Flynn is an American war hero, one of the-put together one of the greatest military machines in our history, providing the intelligence to basically eliminate Al Qaeda from Iraq”.
While Manafort has denied claims that he was talking to Russian officials, Flynn stepped down from his position of National Security Advisor this past Monday. The truth is hard to find.
He has been a harsh critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and wanted the Obama administration to severely punish Moscow for annexing Crimea in 2014 and intervening in Ukraine.
This is not the first time the POTUS has rebuffed claims of Russian interference in either the United States presidential elections or the current administration.
“When I apply common sense to this, those were not sanctions. We asked them to tell the truth”. “He came to us to share that he equally had that issue brought up to him”. “And we should be thanking him, not going after him”.
“The Logan Acts are ridiculous”.
‘I think we all need answers, ‘ the former president said. Several lawmakers, including prominent Republicans, have said that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should recuse himself if the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe yields prosecutable offenses.
