Spoiler alert blocker keeps movie, TV plotlines off your browser
But, if you cruise the internet often, and plan on doing it within the next 72 hours (or before you see the new Star Wars film), you may want to consider Force Block.
As anticipation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens reaches fever pitch, Google has released a game putting you in the shoes of a Jedi warrior, slicing down Stormtroopers with the aid of your smartphone.
As you find yourself on board a Star Destroyer surrounded by First Order stormtroopers, you must move your lightsaber/smartphone to slash through the oncoming enemies.
Are you really keen on watching the new Star Wars movie, “The Force Awakens”?
This is not Google’s first Star Wars promotion.
And with “Lightsaber Escape”, you get to battle storm troopers who appear on your laptop or desktop.
On Google Chrome Blog, Google stated: “The experience was developed in collaboration with Disney, Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic”. Then, it gives you a web address to load on Google Chrome for your iPhone or Android phone. Going to the URL above on your phone instructs you to type in another URL on your computer’s web browser to start the game. WebGL is used for 3D graphics, while WebRTC with WebSockets were used to communicate between the user’s phone and desktop.
The game accomplishes this by paring the Chrome mobile browser on a smartphone with a desktop browser, and using the smartphone’s accelerometer and motion detector to mimic the player’s movements. It takes some time to switch, but once available, users will see a little Star Wars flavour throughout Google’s services.
The search giant recently launched a special Star Wars page where you can customise the look of your Google experience based on whether you choose the Light Side or Dark Side of the Force. The authenticity shows, and Google published a detailed article on creating the technology behind the game.
