Spokane UFC fighter Julianna Peña booked into jail after weekend bar fight
A Spokane police report on the arrest of UFC women’s bantamweight contender Julianna Pena alleges she kicked a bar owner and an employee in the groin after she was denied entry to the bathroom. Pena indicated that they had then left, Kannberg said.
Pena, 26, is a former victor of the The Ultimate Fighter and is riding a three-fight win streak in the UFC.
According to MMAFighting.com, Peña and her training partner, Josh Gow, were involved in a street fight early Sunday outside of a bar in Spokane, WA, and tried to enter the bar afterwards to get cleaned up. The report describes Pena and Gow as being clearly drunk.
When they refused, Pena allegedly started throwing low blows, resulting in her arrest. Upset by this, witnesses told police, she kicked two different men in the groin. When the officer asked her if anything happened at Zola’s, the officer wrote that she said “no”. Jordan Ferguson confirmed the news, stating that she was arrested at 2:20 AM.
If found guilty of her assault charges Pena potentially faces up to 364 days in jail and up to a $5,000 fine. Pena’s coach, Rick Little, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the fighter could not be reached.
UFC vice president of public relations Dave Sholler told MMA Fighting on Sunday that the promotion is “aware of the situation” and “in the process of gathering more info”.
