Spokeswoman: Christie quits presidential race
And that’s what happened, as both Carly Fiorina and Chris Christie announced today that they were departing the race. It still happened on his watch, and whether it was fair at the time or not, there were enough people in his state and around the country who thought the whole thing sounded like something he’d do.
Democratic Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto says he hopes Christie’s return results in bipartisan agreements on the issues. I think he’s very talented, very likable.
(CNN) – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has suspended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination after a disappointing finish in New Hampshire, a source close to the campaign said Wednesday.
With the upcoming Republican primary in SC on February 20 – it will be a heated battle between Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Bush.
“Christie didn’t really attack like he knows how to attack until last Saturday night, when he knocked out Rubio at the debate”, Katz wrote. Last week, Christie received plaudits for his debate takedown of rival Marco Rubio in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he slammed the Florida senator for his automaton-like answers to moderators’ questions. The governor himself was never implicated in the scheme, however.
This turning point is one nobody realized at the moment.
Christie, who was once seen as a rising star in his party, entered the race badly damaged by a traffic jam scandal involving top aides. This was before he came up as big as he did after Hurricane Sandy. It wounded him and looked like maybe it was a wound from which he could recover. “In short, he does not have the money or organisation to be viable in SC and beyond”, said Monmouth University pollster Patrick Murray. Sharpton said he would not endorse a candidate until he met with Clinton.
A natural endorsement for Christie would be Trump, considering that both represent the same fiery rhetoric on terrorism and border security. “Bridgegate provided an opening for a lot of other arguments that hurt him”.
Asked what his mistake was during the debate, Rubio said he had trouble pivoting away from “Republican-on-Republican violence” to President Barack Obama. “He started with that sort of inside Republican Party anger”, Hale said.
Christie won’t be the Republican nominee.
But Christie didn’t hit all the targets. “And I think he has a future in public service beyond what he’s doing now in New Jersey”. “But he lost the only that mattered, which was New Hampshire”, Murray said.

Ohio’s Republican governor, John Kasich, finished second in New Hampshire, followed by Cruz, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Rubio. Let’s remember the GOP race once had 17 candidates.
Trump’s victory showed pundits were wrong to think he would quickly self-destruct based on his penchant for insults and imprecise plans for the presidency.
By the time Christie entered the race two weeks later, Trump had stolen Christie’s thunder and nearly never gave it back. Christie was overpraised for that, of course, for doing his job, the way Giuliani was overpraised after September 11.
