Sports Illustrated model responds to criticism: “I Don’t Consider Myself Fat”
Veteran model Cheryl Tiegs has taken issue with Sports Illustrated bosses for putting a plus-size model on the cover of their new Swimsuit Issue, because she feels it “glamorises” poor health. By her standards, the fact that there were so many ultra-thin, under-nourished models on runways that France actually had to ban them in an attempt to make them healthy again is a problem, because those thin models are Tiegs’s idea of healthy and handsome. “No, I don’t think it’s healthy”. “No, I don’t think it’s healthy”.
“Her face is beautiful, beautiful”, the legendary stunner said, sharing a shred of praise for the 29-year-old. “Beautiful. But I don’t think it’s healthy in the long run”.
While we would love to see Bojana Krsmanovic being crowned the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2016 Rookie of the Year, we are not ruling out Ashley Graham, Sofia Resing, Barbara Palvin, or Tanya Mityushina, who are all in with a chance of the win.
It isn’t much of a surprise that Ashley Graham hasn’t responded to Cheryl Tiegs comments about her weight or magazine photos.
“I like to call it, like, curvasexalicious”, she told Ellen DeGeneres during an interview on Thursday, February 25.
Who the f*** is Cheryl Tiegs?
The former SI Swimsuit Issue star is not among those embracing the decision to put curvy and sexy Ashley Graham on the cover of the annual publication.
But Tiegs, 68, did compliment Graham’s looks.
“I had agents tell me, ‘You’ll never get on the cover of magazines”. Yes, Ashley is full-figured, and yes, the fashion industry has deemed her a plus-size model, but what about this woman looks unhealthy to you?
