Sports personality contender Tyson Fury makes derogatory comments about women
“You may also have seen his comments”.
MORE than 33,000 people have signed a petition to remove Tyson Fury from the Sport Personality of the Year shortlist.
“That’s the runner isn’t it?” he replied. “When shes got a dress on she looks quite fit”.
Shortly after, he was asked about women in boxing and said: ‘I think they’re very nice when they’re walking around that ring, holding them cards. I like them actually.
“I’m all for it I’m not a sexist”. That’s my personal belief. “Making me a good cup of tea, thats what I believe”.
However, the IBF have called for Fury to face mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov in his next fight, despite Fury being contractually obligated to fight Klitschko for a second time.
He has courted controversy in the past and was criticised for airing his views on homosexuality in the lead up to his title shot.
“There are only three things, ‘ he has said, ‘that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home”.
This year, the LGBT community has had many victories, especially in sports, gay people and allies won’t stand for this guy’s homophobic remarks any longer.
Now a video which was recorded before the Klitschko fight shows Fury airing his views on world heptathlon champion Ennis-Hill, who he could end up sharing a podium with at the ceremony on 20 December.
He was chosen by a panel of BBC executives, sports journalists and former award nominees. Who am I to say “don’t do that cos you’re a girl”?
“Now, I gather Mr Fury has subsequently said that some of his best friends are gay. So can I suggest that we invite him to parliament sometime in the near future because frankly I’m quite happy to go head-to-head with him”.
Unfortunately, Mr Bryant might have to put on a few pounds before he can take on Fury – boxers have to weigh over 91kg (14.5 stone) to be classed as “heavyweight”.
Fury has said he doubts that he will win the award as he says he refuses to be censored.
The star-studded event will be hosted by Gabby Logan, Gary Linekar and Clare Balding and will be live on BBC One. “It is brief, and it is strictly sport-related”. Fury’s comments begin around the 58 minute mark.
