Spotify now recommends nearby concerts based on what you listen to
Much like Spotify’s Discover Weekly feature, concert recommendations are based on listening habits. Although it largely replicates functionality that could be found previously through integrating Songkick’s app into Spotify’s product, the new feature instead directly integrates Songkick’s data directly into Spotify, with no actions required by listeners. You can also do this at any time, which can help with trip planning. The Concerts function is being powered by Songkick, which will load the feature with artist tour dates, enabling users to also find tickets through its service with just a few clicks.
The move could impact rival services music fans now use to track upcoming events, like Songkick competitor Bandsintown, for example, which touts a few 19 million registered users.
If you have already been enjoying Discover Weekly on Spotify, Concerts is bound to only enhance your experience.
It promises that as your music tastes evolve, so will the suggestions. Spotify’s user base is so addicted to this feature, that when their playlist was delayed due a glitch this fall, they were furious and lashed out on social media. The feature has immediately started rolling out on Spotify’s iOS and Android apps.
Now Spotify is using what it knows about the music you like to show you concerts you may be interested in attending. Simply and aptly called Concerts, it recommends live shows that are scheduled to be held by your favorite artists and soon-to-be favorite acts in and around your location.
