Sprint Cup race at Bristol delayed again
Carl Edwards will lead the field to green in Saturday night’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, and Bleacher Report will bring you all the live action.
Originally scheduled for Saturday night, the race’s start was delayed an hour. Hamlin immediately stole the lead from Edwards by the end of the opening lap once proceedings got under way. NASCAR resumed drying efforts, even getting cars back on-track at one point, but it was to no avail as another storm arrived on the half-mile oval. Justin Allgaier could not slow quick enough and plowed into the No. 18. Kyle Larson was another driver caught up in the melee….
Harvick took the point lead from Keselowski, who returned to the race but finished 33rd. It also moved him atop the Sprint Cup standings and gave his program a jolt with only three races left until NASCAR’s Chase starts. That’s the nature of short-track racing.
“We’ve had the performance that we’ve needed in the cars nearly every week and it’s been one of those deals where things didn’t go exactly right”.
“Glad we finally got it in”, said Buescher.
“Something was breaking obviously”, said Kyle Busch.
Force raced to her first career victory in Gainesville, Florida, in March, and also won the Four-Wide Nationals in April in Concord, North Carolina. “And to have Busch Beer on the auto – we’ve had crummy luck with these guys on the vehicle, and so I’m just really happy for Busch and Jimmy John’s and really proud of these guys on the No. 4 team”.
“All of our cars were all very fast”, Hamlin said. “I’m really exhausted of losing races here with [parts failures]”. “That’d be pretty neat”. His three Joe Gibbs Racing teammates were all in the top five of the grid: Denny Hamlin in second, Kyle Busch in third and Matt Kenseth in fifth.
Hamlin set the Bristol qualifying record of 131.668 miles per hour in the first round of NASCAR’s three rounds of knockout qualifications. Kurt and Logano were battling for the lead when Kurt Busch got loose on the backstretch, spun and Brad Keselowski slammed into him. Now 45, Jeff Gordon is set to make his fourth straight start in the No. 88 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports as Dale Earnhardt Jr. recovers from a concussion. And there are the issues of race winners Tony Stewart and Chris Buescher.
It looks hard for anyone to crack what appears to be JGR’s dominance.
The victory was Harvick’s second of the season and second at Bristol – his first in 11 years. “When you’ve got drivers that have equal equipment, all good drivers, it will be close”.
