Square Enix Launches Teaser Website for RPG Apple Watch Game ‘Cosmos Rings’
Cosmos Rings is a spinoff from Square Enix‘s Chaos Rings franchise and it uses the Apple Watch’s pedometer.
You probably wouldn’t put the Apple Watch in the same category as a PlayStation 4, but one of the world’s most beloved video game publishers is going to try. The teaser website for the upcoming game is very vague, only listing the title, genre (RPG) and platform (Apple Watch). The company’s almost 30 year existence has seen hits and misses with plenty of weird offerings dotted in between, but today we’re getting a tease for what might just be the company’s strangest decision yet: it would seem that Square Enix is planning a new RPG game for the Apple Watch.
The game is expected to be released sometime this summer. In fact, time seems to be a theme here, with the action taking place in a world called the “Interval of Time”.
“The time that has stopped has once again continued to move, and in order to bring back the Goddess of Time, you need to face the many human emotions from the Interval of Time”. The group developing it consists of Chaos Rings creator and producer Takehiro Andom, along with Square Enix art director and character designer Yusuke Naora, who worked on Final Fantasy X and is now working on Final Fantasy XV, which we have listed as one of the best RPGs of E3 2016. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more information on how gameplay works outside of that, we do have some story details though. At this point it is hard to say if non-Apple Watch owners are missing out on anything special, but with its release looming on the horizon the answer is right around the corner.
