Stanford’s McCaffrey to represent Pac-12 as Heisman finalist
Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey was named one of three finalists for the Heisman Trophy, which were announced Monday night. McCaffrey broke Barry Sanders’ record for all-purpose yards in a season, but he truly put the “all” in “all-purpose”.
McCaffrey had 461 all-purpose yards with touchdowns running, receiving and passing as Stanford outscored Southern Cal in the Pac-12 title game. In just his senior year at Valor, McCaffrey ran for 1858 yards and 27 touchdowns, as well as grabbing 39 passes for 721 yards and 16 more touchdowns.
The Stats: 3,512 passing yards, 8.5 yards per attempt, 30 passing touchdowns, 887 rushing yards, 5.44 yards per rush, 11 rushing touchdowns.
Henry and McCaffrey will be trying to break a streak of five straight quarterbacks winning college football’s top honor when the trophy is presented Saturday night in NY.
Over the past few weeks, these three individuals looked like the three sure-fire finalists, though there were other players, such as Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield and Navy Midshipmen quarterback Keenan Reynolds, that seemed deserving of invitations to NY. “In my opinion, he should win the Heisman”.
Alabama tailback Derrick Henry has all but locked up the Heisman Trophy.

After setting the national high school record for career rushing yards, Henry split carries with T.J. Yeldon his first two seasons before taking over in the backfield. That is 10 TD’s short of Derrick Henry’s.
Where would Henry be on your ballot if you were a Heisman voter?
