STAR WARS Actress Carrie Fisher Talks ‘Stupid’ Princess Leia Ban
Carrie Fisher told the Wall Street Journal that she thinks “it’s stupid”.
“She said at the dinner it’s really hard to date people because she doesn’t want to give people the satisfaction of “I was with Princess Leia”.
Typically candid, Fisher went on to say she never once had doubts about returning to the role of Leia in the sequel. She told Newsweek the costume is what supermodels will eventually wear in the seventh ring of hell. But her viral interview contained more nuggets that Star Wars teasers. Fisher asked. “Do you exercise every day?”
Now, Fisher has addressed another controversy: The recent push to prevent Disney and Lucasfilm from selling merchandise based on the bikini Fisher wore as Leia in “Return of the Jedi”.
The film stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. I have that as a large part of the association with my identity, ‘ she told Time. “But her inclination toward sarcasm – rather than spandex – makes the new face of Jenny Craig something of a breath of fresh air”.
Fisher also brought her French bulldog, Gary, who obediently sat beside the actress in his own director’s chair during the interview.
Maybe we could just like, I dunno, treat her like Han and Luke and have BAZILLIONS of different Leia toys, instead of just slave Leia ones? No?
Earlier today, Carrie Fisher was a guest on Live With Kelly and Michael.
What were they going to do, recast the most iconic female role in science fiction?
The Force Awakens, which opens locally on December 17, has already smashed cinema records, selling more than $US100 million in presale tickets in the United States alone. “‘They don’t want to hire all of me – only about three-quarters!”
