Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Officially Announced

Today, at the first ever EA Play Event, Electronic Arts showcased a behind the scene look at the all the Star Wars game that is now in development at different studios: Visceral, Respawn, and many others. And for VR fans, DICE is also working with Criterion on an exclusive Star Wars Battlefront VR mission for PlayStation VR this year.

Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), headquartered in Redwood City, California, is a leading global interactive entertainment software company. The continuation of the Battlefront franchise was a gimme, and an earnings call let slip that development was underway, but Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was officially announced at the EA Play event. This new game, which is now in development by Respawn, Titanfall’s developer, is going to be a third person game which will explore a new era of the Star Wars universe. Our team at Motive team is growing quickly, and making great progress in building out a significant new addition to the game.

While few details about the Respawn Star Wars game were given, we do know the game will be a third-person action game. The trailer shows lightsaber combat, and the obvious dream would be Thrawn, but we’ll probably have to wait a while to see anything else on that. Can confirm – set in Star Wars.
