Star Wars Battlefront: Supremacy Mode Unveiled
Star Wars Battlefront will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17. Each team begins with two points in their turf and will naturally rumble over the fifth point in the map’s center.
Star Wars: Battlefront is keeping the concept of control points on the map, but is doing away with the ticket concept.
Whichever team possesses the most control points at the end of the 10-minute match wins. That said, weve made several tweaks to improve the formula. Similarly, the decision to have teams attack points in order was largely a measure to prevent “players not playing the objective and camping on a hill somewhere”.
The mode sounds more like Chain Link (a Conquest variant), which came as part of the Dragon’s Teeth expansion pack for Battlefield 4. That means a team will always have one point they are defending and one they are attacking. We’ve known this for a while, and even had DICE’s general manager blame its absence on the impending release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Heroes, Villains, TIE fighters, X-Wings, Walkers and more will populate the map along with a mix of AI-controlled Rebels and Stormtroopers and human controlled players.
Everyone who still says Star Wars Battlefront is just Battlefield with blasters: this is the closest you’ll likely get to an “I told you so” moment.
“Using a character like Darth Vader to secure control points is great, as he can take increased damage before going down”, Brännvall added. However, it’s worthy to note that Supremacy should send fans of George Lucas’ space epic on a wonderful nostalgia trip, as classic characters like Boba Fett, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker will all be encountered during conflicts on Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and other maps set in a galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars Battlefront will feature a wide range of modes tailored for different types of battles, from larger 40-person competitive multiplayer to crafted missions that are played solo, with a friend via split-screen offline or co-operatively online.
