Star Wars Dominates the Box Office on Christmas Weekend
“The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams reportedly sat down to read the script of “Episode VIII” recently, and he thought it was so good he wishes he’d signed on to direct that movie as well.
According Grunberg, Abrams has never reacted to script as strongly as he did for Episode 8.
Rian Johnson, the man behind hits like Looper and Brick, is the man tasked with directing the eighth movie, which has a release date of May 26th, 2017.

J.J. Abrams was the mastermind behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s also worth noting that while the main episodes have directors, plenty of spinoffs would no doubt benefit from the director’s touch, so he could still helm another Star Wars movie somewhere down the line if he chooses!
The worldwide take is particularly impressive, given that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will not open in the booming Chinese market until January 9. Over at MovieTickets.com, sales for Star Wars account for 83% of all sales on its site over the past 24 hours.
The film “Star Wars: Force Awakens” made up with the total amount of $200 million and since it’s released till now the film collected total amount of $689.4 million. Han Solo, who dies by the hand of Kylo Ren in what’s going to be remembered as one of the most hated but also most awesome moments in Star Wars history, will be back for Episode VIII. This could help the movie to have a shot at breaking box office records and becoming a blockbuster in the world’s second largest film market. Grunberg, in other words, has the same reaction as Abrams: He longs to stick around as this wild cinematic ride continues.
