Star Wars fan? Google has apps for that
There are more Easter eggs hidden, Bavor added, and more to come between now and The Force Awakens’ December 18 release. Unfortunately, this will only work on personal accounts and not Google Apps for Work, Education or Government. Either decide to be a member of the Dark Side or a member of the Light.
You can choose to join the light – Jedi masters as Qui-Gon Jin, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi – or dark sides of the Force – Darths Maul, Tyranus, Sidious, Vader.
“Star Wars” creator and original director George Lucas had little involvement with the forthcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, but he recently confirmed it to be his last film with the franchise.
Google knows what you’re thinking on a chilly Monday morning in late November: “Damn, I wish I had more Star Wars in my life”. There are a collection of classic and new Star Wars images for Chromecast, while Google calendar will fill with key movie milestones. YouTube’s seek and volume controls take on a lightsaber-like glow. Will you join the resistance and fight for the Light? Waze, Android Wear and Google translate will also soon receive their own Star Wars specific features.
These changes will happen on every device such as iPhone, iPad, Windows, Android, Mac and Chromebook, so no Star Wars fan could be left without a app makeover.
In addition to letting users choose a side of the Force, Google also announced it has also created a virtual reality series for Cardboard owners that will tie directly into The Force Awakens.
Waiting for the new Star Wars film might be a mild form of torture for a few mega fans. “We’ve got more coming between now and opening night”, teased Bavor.
