Star Wars fans across Lubbock Prepare for Force Awakens premiere
There’s been a “Star Wars” toy-buying frenzy since September when the new action figures from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” were released, and the mania is far from letting up with the release of the film this week and Christmas around the corner. We saw the movie it was awesome.
Hendrick, the leader of a local lightsaber enthusiasts group called Carolina Jedi, said creativity and having fun were of the highest importance for the costumes.
At the Emagine Theaters, they are encouraging people to come in costume.
For $2 per person you could pose or fight with characters from Darth Vader to Chewbacca.
“I was born in 1977 so I just grew up with it. One of my first memories is seeing Star Wars at home on VHS when I was 3 and I was angry because I couldn’t watch it again immediately”. They say the Star Wars franchise has captured and held their imaginations for their entire lives, many saying they love the simple themes of the films, like good versus evil and father and son.
“There is a screening of Star Wars for Gold Star families and children (of United States soldiers killed in combat) coming up”.
The largest domestic December opening weekend ever was The Hobbitt: An Unexpected Journey at $37.13M which should fall easily, Star Wars could top the all-time USA opening weekend record set by Jurassic World of $208M.
The lights dimmed, the previews ended and the bombastic sounds of a familiar overture plays over the opening crawl – it’s time for Star Wars.
