Star Wars: George Lucas on why he stepped away
Anna Kendrick, “The First American Top Model” Adrianne Curry, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and every Star Wars: The Force Awakens icon like Harrison Ford, once considered “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine; the list could go on… Lucas explained that he has no intention to direct another “Star Wars” film due to the constant criticism and lack of experimentalism. Insiders confirm that the seventh film in the hugely popular franchise has generated more than $50 million in advance ticket sales.
What’s really interesting is that the month of December is historically a poor month for a movie opening. Also keep in mind this is not an official number released by Disney, The Force Awakens could very well be even higher.
This highlights two things: “Fantastic Four” is, unquestionably, one of the biggest flops of all time (it cost a whopping $120 million) and “The Force Awakens” is on pace for the biggest opening weekend of all-time.
Several theaters are reportedly staying open for longer hours to accommodate streams of waiting fans during the film’s first week of release, including additional screenings for 2AM and 5AM.
But Dergarabedian points out that “The Force Awakens” is opening at the same time of year as “Avatar” and runner-up “Titanic”, leaving the movie a potential path to rampage through the box office charts through January.
“Our goal is to make future Battlefront games as well as other style games around the Star Wars franchise”, Jorgensen said during his talk. “In the era of online ticket sales, we haven’t seen a movie like this”. “I’ll go my way and I let them go their way”, he added, as told to CBS News.
With that $50 million, Force Awakens is only $2.73 billion behind Avatar.
What we know for a fact is that Luke Skywalker overcame the dark side at the end of Return of the Jedi, his last on-screen appearance, helping his father return to the light.
