‘Star Wars,’ ‘Star Trek’ are different, J.J. Abrams says

For lifelong “Star Wars” fans, and those whose young lives have only recently been touched by George Lucas’ enduring films, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” arrives with a mix of sky-high expectations and just a hint of trepidation.

With the aesthetics of “The Brady Bunch” credits and the musical stylings of Pentatonix, watch as Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford all join into lend their vocal talents to this musical tapestry.

In another interview with Slash Film, Abrams explained why he brought in the team from “The Raid: Redemption” to do an action sequence in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

The Dixon family, including mum, dad, grandma, and four girls under eight, have all come dressed up – the girls as mini storm troopers all thanks to dad’s obsession with the movies. Director J.J. Abrams shot for the stars and managed to deliver a film that should appease Star Wars aficionados of every generation, while providing new fans with fun new characters and legends laced with the type of unbridled escapism that thrilled the hearts and minds of moviegoers 38 years ago.

Merchandising for the movie is a massive industry, and it is expected to be worth more than £3bn in the 12 months following its release to the public on Thursday.
