‘Star Wars The Force Awakens’ Adds Another Strong Box Office Day
The Force Awakens has done exceptional business at the box offices (as if that was ever in doubt), but the praise from fans and professional critics alike has come as a great relief to Disney, who bought the rights to the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas for $4 billion in 2012.
$119.1 million – How much the film brought in on December 18, its opening day in the U.S. That is roughly $30 million more than the previous opening-day record.
Overseas, Force Awakens earned another $38.4 million for a foreign tally of $400.4 million and global haul of $765.9 million.
The film ranks No. 3 on the list of top grossing films in North America. On Wednesday, it passed films like Furious 7, Minions and Inside Out, all which made over $330 million each.
He will start shooting his supposedly great script after the new year, with Episode VIII on track to try and leap over Abrams and The Force Awakens on May 26, 2017. Unfortunately, we won’t have any sort of confirmation for a very, very long time, but while we wait, why not check out the photos below and let us know in the comments section if you would have liked to have seen Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Abrams’ movie career has consisted of rebooting and updating old properties like Star Wars, Star Trek and Mission: Impossible – and Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow just did the same with Jurassic World.
Since the release of maybe the biggest Star Wars movie yet, many have been waiting in hopes of getting news of an actual Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game. It has already taken a record from Jurassic World and it is now trying to take another one. So if you think about it, whats the point of releasing DLC when you could build a whole other game dedicated to the new trilogy?
