‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens:’ Harrison Ford made HOW much money?
When the numbers first were coming in, it appeared that The Force Awakens had also fallen short on the grand total worldwide opening box office record, but it has since slipped past Jurassic World’s mark on that one as well.
Unless you’ve been living under a Wi-Fi-less rock, you know the recent Star Wars reboot is a big deal. For a more apples to apples comparison, it would make sense to go back to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Fast and Furious 7 ranks second with United States dollars 2.7 million (RON 11.2 mln) and over 650,000 spectators, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is third with USD 2.65 million (RON 10.8 mln) and 526,000 spectators. There are some sizeable narrative gaps as to what had to happen in order for it to transition this way (though we do get details sprinkled to us throughout), but as the movie got going that became a relatively minor quibble.
Because Disney-owned Marvel was cool enough to congratulate Universal Pictures on breaking the record earlier this year, topping previous record-holder Marvel’s The Avengers, it seemed only fair that Universal return the favor.
Luckily, Braden enjoyed the movie, and he said he came out of the experience still liking it. In fact, even after watching it nine times in a row, he still plans to see The Force Awakens again when his parents come to visit for the holidays.
“Star Wars had the greatest villain in cinema history”. The film is now playing in theaters. Quite interestingly, this is a box office record that’s been around for a long time.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if studios now look for other franchises from our past and try to resurrect them in different ways”.
Recent cinematic successes rooted in the past include “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Creed”, which breathed new life into “Rocky”. But then came a rush of excitement and derring-do that, while I recognized much of it as director J.J. Abrams and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan remixing every element that made the original trilogy of “Star Wars” what it was, worked for me and completely amazed and surprised my son.
He noted improved sound quality of headphones and the rise of ultra-high resolution screens and content in homes.
