‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ makes AFI’s top movie list
There’s a big air of mystery as we watch the events unfold.
The movie, McCarthy said “pumps new energy and life into a hallowed franchise in a way that both resurrects old pleasures and points in promising new directions”.
Director George Lucas, who was the originator of the Star Wars movies, said he was eager to pass on the reins to JJ Abrams who directed the latest installment.
Even so, people at the party loved it. “The costumes truly were iconic, and they had a power to touch people”, he said. I was seeing red-state-blue-state resonance in the colors of the lightsabers for a second, then realized that was just because someone had sent me a “Trump Vader” video last week. “I’m very proud of it, thank you”.
Some fans scooped up seats for multiple viewings, including Ramsay, who has tickets for three showings in the coming days. “She won’t tell us how she got the tickets”, Ben said. By having familiar faces such as General Leia, Chewbacca and our favorite smuggler Han Solo interact and help our new players Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) in their new journey, the audience has an easier time accepting the new participants in the franchise.
Local YouTube personalities Dan Khoo and Jared Lee kicked off the excitement by hosting a 16-hour Star Wars movie marathon (Ep I-Ep VI) in Bandar Sunway. She added: “I’m a girl from London – it’s good be home”. (Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is a part of the equation in this reboot, but the nature of the role and spoiler elements mean I am not going there.) Ford really seems to be relishing the return of Solo, and he’s a natural in this encore even if he’s over 70 now (much like Sylvester Stallone in Creed).
He also said he had a “very special affinity” for London, revealing his son was born here while he filmed The Empire Strikes Back.
Giving a twirl on the red carpet the star certainly looked out of this world as she joined her fellow co-stars in Leicester square. Davis pulled out his selfie stick and proceeded to have a conversation with the ball. “So we want to make sure everybody is comfortable”. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is full of Sci-Fi action, scenes to reminisce over that will take you back to the past, jaw dropping moments that will change the franchise forever and a final scene that will have fans wanting more.
The Force Awakens, the seventh film in the series, had its world premiere on Monday night in Los Angeles and opens everywhere on the planet today.
Simon Pegg, whose role in the film had for so always been a secret, admitted that he played a “rather angry oaf”, while also claiming that his friend Abrams had “a lot of pressure on his shoulders” making The Force Awakens.
With these rave reviews, unprecedented advance sales, and an obsessive fan base, there’s little doubt the film will set opening-weekend records for December – the previous record was set by “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” with $85 million in 2012.
