‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ premiere
Disney took over a half-mile section of Hollywood Boulevard for the premiere for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, complete with fan bleachers and spotlights everywhere. On the contrary, this marks the beginning of a new foray into the galaxy far, far away, with new talents taking the helm and a plethora of media and merch to keep us fueled on Star Wars for many years to come.
The official opening is Friday but there are showings on Thursday. I remember the thrill of that AT-AT Walker attack, and the lightsaber battle between Luke and that masked guy who said he was his father.
And certainly Pixar used to attach the trailers for their next film with their theatrical releases, sometimes over a year in advance (for example, The Incredibles teaser trailer played 18 months before the film’s release, with Finding Nemo).
Fellow Briton John Boyega, who plays Finn, wore a shimmering maroon tuxedo jacket with a black bowtie and black leather gloves.
Mr O’Connor said numerous class already had tickets pre-booked to see the new Star Wars film when it opens, but added that he will wait until the hype dies down.

I kept a professional interest in the names being bandied around to direct it – quizzing JJ Abrams at the Star Trek Into Darkness press conference, gauging Colin Trevorrow’s interest long before he landed the gig to direct Star Wars: Episode IX – but still I refused to waste time tracking the production.
The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and focuses on a new group of characters. Simon Pegg and Max von Sydow are also part of the cast, but their roles remain a mystery. “We know it, but because we see it every day the same way it becomes overly familiar and lost in the normal”. Even the baddies, people love them in a really pure way.
The secrecy has sparked much speculation, with Abrams promising it won’t be a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Since that first viewing, Luke, Vader and company have loomed large in my imagination, and clearly in the imaginations of many other adults introduced to the sci-fi franchise as kids.
For some, the Star Wars movie series, which first came out in 1977, are apparently overtly racist.
The Girls star also praised the original cast members, saying: “They couldn’t be more excited to be there”.
Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o plays Maz Kanata, an alien with eyes that hold mysterious depths.
The seventh and soon to be released instalment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available on Emirates in early 2016.

He said anticipation for this movie, as opposed to what it was like when “The Phantom Menace” was released in 1999, is “different”.
Those without may be disappointed on opening night in the United States, with many theaters already sold out. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Abrams joked about digitally inserting the bones of the series’ most hated character into the background of one of the Force Awakens scenes.
There is no escaping The Force in grocery stores, restaurants – and just about anywhere else.
