Star World Premiere HD to air finale of ‘Downton Abbey’
The final episode of Downton Abbey beat Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas Special to win the battle of the Christmas Day ratings, as 6.6 million tuned in to wish a fond farewell to the Crawleys.
The series will end with a Christmas special finale episode on 25 December at 8 pm.
Despite the end of the series, Dockery said the connections she made with her castmates will last.
But the Queen’s speech, broadcast on BBC and ITV, was the most watched programme, with a combined audience of 7.2 million.
The first Downton Abbey Christmas special in 2011 drew an average United Kingdom overnight audience of 8.6 million and a peak audience of 9.1 million, which rose to 12.1 million in the consolidated viewer figures, followed by 6.8 million in 2012 and 6.6 million in 2013. Within the episode, viewers stated their goodbyes to the Crawley family & their servants after six seasons. Carson has been more concerned about the pace of change in the Downton Abbey household than he has about his new wife.
Prince William was among those paying tribute to Downton Abbey.
Over on ITV, the final two-hour instalment of Downton will kick off at the exact same time.

Downton Abbey debuted on ITV in 2010 and became a global phenomenon, collecting numerous awards along the way.
