Starbucks app could help you skip the line starting next month
The final wave of expansion brings the service to Android mobile device users, and nearly doubles the number of branches where mobile order and pay is available, including additions in major cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
Through the Starbucks Android app, you can order coffee at specific stores, pay for it, and then pick it up without having to wait in line.
You open your app and in the upper right hand corner, you’re going to be able to click on a new tab that says “Order”. “The fact that it also represents the fastest technology application rollout we have ever done is indicative of the strength of our digital ecosystem, how well it has been received by both our customers and store partners, and the impact we think it can have on the future of retail”, he added. Well fret no more because you can now place your order via your smartphone at any of the 7,400 locations across the U.S. Starbucks is launching a mobile app that will allow people to order and pay in advance nationally. Once it’s placed, you can skip the line and pick your drink up from the counter. Initially, Starbucks meant to release the app at the end of the year.
Starbucks began testing the program a year ago at stores in Portland, Oregon, and expanded it to 3,400 more stores in select states over the summer.

The service is fully integrated into Starbuck’s popular app, which now boasts 16m active users in the United States, and which has proved one of the most successful examples of mobile payment adoption so far. This is a web-based ordering system where food and beverage orders are delivered within the building to tenants by the baristas staffing the Starbucks inside the building. The app informs customers approximately how long it will take for the order to be prepared. While no one wants to waste time waiting on lunch, Starbucks is a decidedly in-and-out affair.
