Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz endorses Hillary Clinton
In a business breakfast hosted by CNN Money, the Seattle-based CEO said that expressing his support for Clinton is not “a flawless situation” but that Trump’s side demonstrated “such vitriolic display of bigotry and hate and divisiveness, and that is not the leadership we need for the future of the country”.
From the contentious political election, to race relations and violence related to cops, Schultz hopes that the web series will play a role in making relations within this country more diplomatic and just.
Schultz has left no doubt that he thinks the US political process is a mess.
He has also been included in Time magazine’s “Time 200”, a list of the most influential people in the world.
“I’m still a young man”, the 63-year-old said.
Schultz’s focus right now is countering the “the divisiveness and cynicism currently fueling our national discourse”. That’s when Schultz offered up his choice for president. In a speech to Starbucks shareholders last spring, the billionaire exec said he fears the opportunities that allowed him to achieve his American Dream have fallen out of the grasp of too many people.
He noted the Starbucks opened a store in Ferguson previous year. Schultz is known as a leader who uses his resources and influence to make a positive impact on communities, and he says the inspiration for Upstander stems from the injustices that have been hitting this country recently.
“The Ferguson store is one of the best performing stores we’ve opened this year”, he said.
