Starbucks: Mobile order-and-pay now available nationally
Customers can access the feature in the Starbucks App on an iOS or Android device. Well, there’s an app for that! In July, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said that Mobile Order and Pay was boosting sales and profits at the then 4,000 United States locations where it was in place, Reuters reported. The app also lets you locate stores, get an estimated wait time and pre-pay.
Starbucks launched the service last December in Portland, OR.
Beranek also said Starbucks has seen an increase in customer satisfaction in markets where the app has already been unveiled.
This means you will be able to walk in store, go straight to the front of the line, take your coffee and leave in a matter of seconds. The company announced earlier this year that it would begin testing delivery service late in 2015 with Postmates in Seattle and another service at New York’s Empire State Building called Green Apron.
Those who aren’t fans of human interaction can now forgo most of it, but the feature currently only works in stores that Starbucks owns in the US.
It’s a basic protocol: Launch your app, tap in your order, beam it to the location of your choice, pay for it, show up, grab your at-the-ready Grande non-fat no-whip two-pump white mocha, and get the heck outta there.
It looks like the trial was a success, because Starbucks is now releasing this feature nationwide.
According to Starbucks, demand for Mobile Order & Pay has been high, and represents a growing portion of the mobile payments taking place at Starbucks stores. Around 3,400 additional stores became part of the test project this summer, but now, it’s making its bow with a national rollout with more than 7,400 company-owned stores participating in the program. It will then tell you how long you’ll have before it’s time to pick up your order.
Brotman, in an interview, acknowledged that at first, some baristas were “a little afraid, or a little tentative”, but that overall they’ve embraced mobile order and pay.
The easy to use feature is flawlessly integrated into the My Starbucks Rewards loyalty program, which allows users to simply sign up and earn stars that will result in more caffeinated beverages.
