Starbucks rolls out mobile ordering & Pay to its company-owned USA locations
The app is available on Android and iOS devices.
The app lets you pick from the nearest location, pay and even let’s you know when the order will be ready – right down to a realtime countdown. The app has been met with incredible success, cutting down on time and opening an easier option for people often in a hurry, busy parents or physically enabled customers.
For those unfamiliar with the feature, basically you can place an order on your mobile phone via the Starbucks app and pay for it, thus letting them skip the queue and ensure that the barista has their order down to a T. At least that way any issues that you might encounter will not be because the cashier forgot your order.
LOS ANGELES, Sept 22 Starbucks Corp on Tuesday said it is now offering its sales-boosting Mobile Order & Pay service in all of its more than 7,400 USA company-operated shops, completing its nationwide roll-out about three months ahead of schedule.
“Bringing Mobile Order and Pay to our customers is about meeting their needs of convenience and customization at any time of the day”, said Adam Brotman, Starbucks chief digital officer.
In July, Starbucks also announced a multi-year deal with the San Francisco-based rideshare service Lyft in which riders can earn reward points, or “stars”, in Starbucks loyalty program for fare purchases with Lyft. The app informs customers approximately how long it will take for the order to be prepared. It’s worth noting that the changelog specifically states the new feature will only work in stores Starbucks owns.
Following the initial test of Mobile Order & Pay in Portland, Oregon in December 2014 and subsequent launch across the Pacific Northwest in March 2015, Starbucks expanded the program to 3,400 additional stores across 17 states in the USA earlier this summer.
