State police, dive teams search after report of possible sunken vessel in
Divers (R) were brought to search the wreckage once the boat was found. Coast Guard that a boat was taking on water and sank, about a mile and a half to two miles north of the tip of the Sandy Hook peninsula, according to Coast Guard spokesman Charles Rowe.
The Coast Guard reports that the vessel could be a 40-foot fishing trawler.

New Jersey State Police crews found debris in the water believed to be from the sunken vessel.
It was not immediately clear if there was anyone on board the boat.
As CBS2’s Dave Carlin reported, NYPD Divers went in to the Sandy Hook Channel as rescue helicopter teams scanned the water from above, searching for the trawler called the El Jefe.
The search zone in Sandy Hook Bay was about 70 feet deep, the Coast Guard told 1010 WINS.
