Steelers’ Antonio Brown Named AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week
On Wednesday, the National Football League fined Brown $11,576 Wednesday for jumping onto and then straddling the goalpost after he ran back a 71-yard punt return touchdown in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 44-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday night.
Coach Mike Tomlin said Markus Wheaton and Antonio Brown will handle return duties against the Cincinnati Bengals in what will be a crucial game for Pittsburgh in the AFC standings. The celebration afterward earned him a fine from the league. “The angle I approached, I couldn’t really see her. I don’t think she got hurt”.
Like the front flip he performed after scoring a touchdown against Cleveland, Brown said his latest celebration was not planned. Brown has four career punt returns for touchdowns and he’ll have the opportunity for more now that he’s taken over punt return duties permanently for the demoted Jones.
The Steelers say Brown also became the first player in team history to record a punt return for a touchdown and two receiving touchdowns in the same game. “He knows I’m usually a smart guy about things I do. Hopefully, that performance will be a catalyst [going forward]”.
