Steelers’ backup QB is comically sad as hurt Roethlisberger plays
The Steelers are 5-4 and sorely need a win over the AFC North rival Browns.
Roethlisberger, who is active despite a left foot sprain, practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday and had been listed as questionable for the game.
With starter Ben Roethlisberger still out nursing a foot injury, the team turned to Landry Jones to make the start.
Roethlisberger was still in his National Football League infancy back then.
Roethlisberger took the field for Pittsburgh’s third drive of the game.
“I had a good meeting with Jimmy the other day”, Pettine said. “We discussed a lot of things, including what’s going well and what hasn’t been going well”. Even only allowing three points, Manziel’s first offensive play resulting in an inexcusable fumble isn’t a great way for the second-year quarterback to prove himself or inspire confidence. He endured a nasty facemask from Pittsburgh linebacker Arthur Moats, who twisted Manziel’s head awkwardly while reaching out for the quarterback in the second quarter.
Be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest on Roethlisberger’s play, as well as updates on Jones’ ankle. Officials initially ruled it a score, but the call was overturned on review.
NOTES: Brown has 27 receptions in his last two games, the third-highest total in National Football League history…. Cleveland hosts Baltimore on November 30….
