Steelers claim altercation between coach and fan never happened
As it relates to last Thursday’s game, Roethlisberger said the headset issue only occurred when the Steelers had the ball. First we heard the headsets on the Steelers sidelines were not working.
It was a widespread problem against New England. Furthermore, the team stands fully behind the 12-year assistant and is certain that all investigations of the incident will exonerate Daniel. The National Football League moved quickly to eliminate any possible controversy, though, by releasing a statement that said the issue “involved no manipulation by any individual and that the Patriots had nothing to do with it”. Thomas also was limited to special teams against the Patriots.
So when the Pittsburgh Steelers coaches started picking up the home radio broadcast on their headsets, there shouldn’t have been any cause for suspicion. Roethlisberger thought it was against the rules, however it was perfectly legal. I mean it’s just, I think it’s a sad commentary and it’s really a very, it’s gone to a pretty low level. But I do not have the energy or will to do that every week.
The league has since cleared the Patriots of any wrongdoing. In their game against Oakland, Jones got into a tussle after the whistle with the Radiers’ wide out Amari Cooper. While the 24-year-old flashed at times in training camp and pre-season, not sure how many people expected him to make an immediate impact.
Suh’s Dolphins were playing the Redskins where he tackled running back Alfred Morris. Scobee is Pittsburgh’s third kicker this year, after Shaun Suisham and Garrett Hartley both got injured, but that is no excuse.
The failure of the defensive line got overshadowed by the struggles of the secondary, which many saw coming. Thank god for the legal system to correct the NFL’s blunders but there is a huge lack of common sense from a punishment standpoint and I am shock no one has been fired yet.
As for the Sports Illustrated story that detailed and in some cases simply rehashed the Spygate scandal, Brady brushed it off. Some of their best reporters have lost the trust in some members of the public.
There were definitely some plays that the Steelers gave away; look no further than Gronkowski’s 52-yard reception in the fourth quarter, when the big tight end went streaking down the seam with not one pair of yellow game trousers even trying to run with him.
Over at ESPN Pittsburgh came in at number 13 overall. Congratulations must be given to Ortiz for achieving a huge milestone in his career. Brady was a “mediocre” quarterback to many other teams and Belichick obviously scouted Brady instead of just putting a piece of paper on the wall with players names left in the draft and throw a dart and pick the player that the dart lands on.
Tomlin would like to see Pittsburgh’s offense finish more drives in the end zone instead of bogging down, a bugaboo that cost the Steelers early last season too.
