Steelers look to cure defensive woes against Browns
Some more short passes got them all the way to the 3 yard line. “That is somewhere we want to be, and we want to be great and bring championships here, and I think we can, but this is the test, first test”.
I’ll be the first to admit that as a Steelers fan, I have been incredible spoiled most of my life time.
“This is still a huge rival for me, especially me personally”, Roethlisberger said.
“Awesome”, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said.
As Roethlisberger was falling, he spotted Bell and passed the ball to the 225-pound running back. “I still think theyhave a really good defense”. I thought I was going to go to the Browns. You have to acknowledge that.
Eli Rogers is going to need to make some big plays.
-With one or more receptions, RB Duke Johnson will become the first Browns running back to record 40 or more receptions in multiple seasons since Jamel White accomplished the feat from 2001-03. Pittsburgh has lost four in a row, and there are major question marks about a disappointing defense.
“You know when you go against Pittsburgh that it is going to be a physical battle”. It has exposed the defense, which may end up being the worst Steelers defense since Chuck Noll’s late years. “Offensively they’ve been beat up”. He got his hands on nine of Roethlisberger’s passes last week. Roethlisberger threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns against the Cowboys.
James Harrison was emotional in the locker room Sunday after setting the Steelers’ all-time career sack record against the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium, the same stadium where he got his first-career sack 12 years ago on November 14, 2004.
Given yet another free play from the 1-yard-line, the Steelers again eschewed the field-goal attempt.
Harrison, who grew up in Akron and played at Kent State, said setting the sacks record in OH didn’t make it any more significant. Each one failed. That simply is not a good look, even with a coach with the resume of Tomlin’s, and even in a franchise that doesn’t fire coaches. This didn’t result in a lot of yardage for the team, but it helped the team dominate in possession time.
“I wish he would have gotten it at home, but that’s about the only regret I have for him is that he couldn’t be recognized at home because he deserves that as one of the best I’ve ever seen, ” Roethlisberger said. “Is it players? Is it coaches?” He clearly is still recovering from injury and getting back in the swing of things, so I won’t declare him a bust yet.
Tomlin did not duck the issue when he met with reporters during the week. We aren’t dumbing things down or anything like that. “We have to make more plays and we have to do a better job of finding a way to score”. “But that’s because we speak truth”. “It is what it is”.
“We can’t keep doing this”, said Pryor, a former QB. “We got to get started this weekend in Cleveland. Part of changing that is first acknowledging that”.
The Steelers stopped a four-game skid, improved to 5-5 and tied the Ravens atop the AFC North. So there still is an opportunity to reach the postseason.
Highlights will be added and updated as they happen.
“I was thinking about my father, and how he’s not here for it, ” Harrison said. “It shows you what glaring weaknesses you have. Thirty points is always our goal, but we would love 35, 40 and 45, obviously”.
Pittsburgh leaned heavily on Le’Veon Bell as they did throughout the game.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. Jameis Winston sliced up a Kansas City defense missing top cornerback Marcus Peters, and Tampa Bay snapped the Chiefs five-game winning streak.
