Steelers’ Pouncey, Packers’ Nelson leave game with injuries
The preseason game between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers may have been meaningless, but that doesn’t mean it was without outcome. See who could be labeled “Winners” with a strong showing, and “Losers” with a performance which left a lot to be desired.
Roethlisberger performed into the second quarter, connecting on 11 of 14 for 100 yards a rating. The Steelers went in a no-huddle offense for their 7-play drive to go 51 yards in just over three minutes. Brown will be supported by Markus Wheaton and Martavius Bryant. Sunday’s performance was a huge step in the right direction for No. 11. The Packers ranked below the Steelers in terms of total yardage, but more than made up for it as they scored more points than any other team in the league. Mike McCarthy said Rodgers would’ve remained in the game had it been the regular season. Adams comes in after putting up 38 catches for 446 yards and three touchdowns last season and he will have to be relied on even more if Nelson misses the season.
But it’s the second level where the museum comes to life, where an escalator carries patrons through a procession of mannequins donning every Packers uniform from 1919 to 1997 against a classic barn backdrop.
Landry Jones – To not sound like a broken record, it isn’t the fact Jones can’t make plays, it is his consistency.
The Steelers were then two much for the Packers in hitting a field goal of their own along with two touchdowns to end the game with a score of 24-19.
The worst thing about the Pre-Season is the fear key players suffer serious injury in a game that doesn’t count. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a little bit of experience so I can help these young guys out, stay calm during these games.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their first game to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 23-21, last week. Behind him is Chris Hubbard, who has struggled throughout the summer and the preseason at both guard and center.
Rodgers would also leave the game to injury, after being sacked for a safety by James Harrison late in the first quarter. Again, no preseason contest should serve as a real testament to where a team stands. “I had this conversation with him earlier this week – his special teams play is equally as important as his play at cornerback”.
