Steelers rule out Antonio Brown vs. Broncos
The Pittsburgh Steelers have ruled out running back DeAngelo Williams following Friday’s practice, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is reportedly expected to play despite being listed as questionable.
“He did a nice job”, Tomlin said of Roethlisberger after the Steelers’ final practice of the week.
Brown has been ruled out for Sunday’s AFC Divisional Playoff game against the Denver Broncos and Burfict was suspended by the National Football League for three games without pay because of the incident. The biggest fine went to Bengals cornerback Adam Jones, who also apologized to Steelers receiver Antonio Brown for saying Brown was faking a concussion. It was clear to just about everyone that Brown suffered a brutal concussion, it was just a matter of if he would get through the mandatory protocol to play this weekend. The 27-year-old carried the team, pulling in 136 receptions for 1,834 yards and connected for a total of ten touchdowns on the year.
Unburdened, Harris is seeking redemption in Sunday’s divisional round playoff rematch against the Steelers, even though he won’t get the chance to prove he can get the better of Brown, who had 16 catches for 189 yards, the majority of them against Harris, back on December 20. “He did everything we asked him to do”. And this came with Roethlisberger missing time with injuries, so the loss of Brown makes the Steelers offense considerably weaker.
The fines are in from last Saturday’s Steelers-Bengals game, and they are hefty.
The Chiefs, riding an 11-game winning streak, also have injury concerns, most notably wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who sprained an ankle during last weekend’s 30-0 playoff demolition of Houston. The Broncos believe if Roethlisberger is physically able to throw to most of the field, he will be able to spread the ball around to other Steelers players like Martavis Bryant, Heath Miller and Markus Wheaton.
Brown took a hit from Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who was flagged 15 yards for unnecessary roughness. “I think all of us collectively are excited about the opportunity”. Quarterback Peyton Manning may be back in the saddle as the starter but his injured foot will be tested. Brock Osweiler wowed in the first half completing 14-of-18 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns while the defense allowed 13 points.
