Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell says he won’t be suspended
Le’Veon Bell will not be suspended, or so he says.
In the 2016 National Football League season, the running back served a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy for possession and DUI in the Pittsburgh area back in August 2014.
Bell has yet to be interviewed about the suspension and appeal. One rumor is that Bell was on vacation when summoned for the test, which the NFLPA is backing the player on. But another screw-up, another failed or missed test, and Bell is in Martavis Bryant territory, or Stage 3 of intervention.
Translation: Bell’s facing long odds.
While changing a phone number, therefore missing calls about drug test times and locations, is an easy explanation for what happened with Bell’s drug test debacle, it has still only been reported by one source. This was not an official statement issued by Le’Veon Bell, whose agent, Adisa Bakari, has not responded to messages for comment. The suspension was knocked down to two games on appeal.
Cleveland Browns wideout Josh Gordon was reinstated today. He was also caught about a year ago smoking weed with ex running back, LeGarratte Blount.
DeAngelo Williams will become the Steelers’ primary ball carrier if Bell is suspended.
The suspension, which would take place at the beginning of the season, has not been announced because Bell is appealing.
The reason? Though Brady will miss 1/4 of the team’s games, that’s 25% less wear and tear on his body. The Steelers needed to see Bell healthy after he tore medial collateral and posterior crucial ligaments in his right knee in Week 8 last season.
