Steelers WR Brown out due to concussion
Jones later told Brandon Marshall on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” that he would apologize to Brown under one condition.
For the Steelers’ part, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger knows replacing Brown is impossible, but he knows he can rely on the corps of receivers behind him. Both Roethlisberger (shoulder) and Brown (concussion) were injured in wild-card win over Cincinnati on hits by Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict…. Those duties will be taken over by Wheaton this Sunday.
The Steelers listed Roethlisberger as questionable on their official injury report.
That all said, the Broncos come into the game having finished third in the NFL by allowing just 1,337 yards on the ground in 2015 and opposing backs averaged just 3.3 yards per carry against the Denver defense, best in the league.
The veteran passer left the game after the collision but returned in the dying moments of the fourth quarter to help his team seal the win and advance to the second round. He spent the portion of practice open to the media Wednesday working on the side with conditioning coach Luke Richesson. Roethlisberger hurt his throwing shoulder against Cincinnati, but he remains hopeful he’ll be able to do some passing during Friday’s practice. He had 119 yards against the Bengals, the best playoff performance of his career. In the December meeting with Denver he notched 62 yards and a touchdown.
He says Stewart is standing up for his teammate, just like he was standing up for Antonio Brown.
In the regular season game between these two teams, a hit by Wallace ended Broncos’ safety David Bruton’s season.
Whatever the case, it’s sad that the Steelers offense has been reduced to these hypothetical scenarios. The teams did meet up once already this season though. WR Emmanuel Sanders has 19 catches for 347 yards and two TDs in last three games. Steelers advanced to postseason despite losing Roethlisberger for one month, running backs Le’Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams, and center Maurkice Pouncey due to injury….
In addition to missing Brown, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger isn’t expected to be at 100 percent for Sunday’s game. CBS will be providing live coverage of the game, with the victor advancing to play in the AFC Championship Game.
But, Brown has now been ruled out and officially won’t play on Saturday.
