Steph Curry has another unstoppable night as Warriors go 10-0
More importantly, his behavior does not endear or make officials give him the benefit of the doubt – they are humans who get sick of being jawed at like anyone. While a win was unlikely, seeing a team fight and be competitive against the best team in the league is all anyone could have asked for.
“Anytime you can do something that hasn’t been done in franchise history, it’s huge”, Curry said. I thought we believed we could win.
Considering all the Warriors and Curry have done this season as far as highlights go, this one seems pretty tame.
First, Minnesota just played Curry straight up, with Zach LaVine and Andre Miller matching him one-on-one. “He’s always in attack mode”.
But the reigning MVP is playing a different game than everyone else on the planet right now.
It didn’t take long for Curry to heat up Thursday as he had 25 points at halftime, and the Warriors looked like they were going to run away with the game early at the Target Center arena in Minneapolis. He shot 6-of-9 from the field, 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.
Ricky Rubio missed his second straight game with an ankle injury.
The Golden State Warriors haven’t started a season this well in 55 years. It was a 12-point game at halftime. He hit consecutive triples in the third quarter, one from 3 feet behind the arc for a 97-76 lead.
Curry is leading the league offensively in nearly every possible metric. But the first splash was special. Stephen Curry is balling like he wants to win back-to-back MVPs, and it will be his production that determines whether or not the Warriors can crack that 70-win barrier.
Those two daggers by Curry within a span of 27 seconds have broken other teams’ resolve in the past.
Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 22 points, including five 3-pointers, and nine assists. Muhammad’s energy and scoring combined for a tough matchup for the Warriors, and did all the little things to get a competitive edge. And the day where the Timberwolves become a real rival for Golden State may be closer than we think.
Towns had his sixth double-double this season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Draymond Green had 23 points to go with 12 assists and eight rebounds.
In 8 minutes, the W’s too-slow tempo against Toronto had already scored an ultra-efficient 29 points against Portland. Barnes finished with 14 points. Green, Festus Ezeli and Andrew Bogut battled foul trouble.
Towns scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, improving his season averages to 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds. Again, all five Warriors starters scored in double-digits.
In fact, if they win 70 games or more and lose in the playoffs, then that is something the media will hold against them in the future.
It was another chastening night for the Grizzlies, who were run ragged by the Warriors last week during a 119-69 defeat.
