Steph Curry’s three-pointers festival sinks LeBron James’ Cavaliers
Until proven otherwise, this is the best Finals matchup for the National Basketball Association and.
But the Cavaliers, facing Golden State in the finals for the 4th year in a row, are only 4-4 against the Warriors at home in all finals. “We’ll just have to see”.
Curry posted 33 points for the Warriors and surpassed the previous record of eight three-pointers.
Golden State has been able to suppress the effectiveness of Cavaliers starters outside of LeBron, limiting Love’s shooting or keeping Thompson off the boards.
Every time these teams have met in The Finals, Cleveland has had to start on the road. If he continues on this scoring and 3-point shooting tear, Curry can perhaps get a Finals MVP trophy to go with another Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy. His dominance has been missed in the Smith and Curry storylines but it will probably play bigger now that the series moves to Cleveland.
Not everybody is ready to crown the Warriors as a dynasty, not just yet anyway. They’ve proven they can win on someone else’s floor.
Nearly two weeks ago, Kerr said: “Until he’s able to run without pain, I can’t play him”. They’ve been doing their thing. We really get up to play at home. They are the ideal marriage of skill and chronology, thriving in a time where the evolution they’ve forced has become the dominant paradigm.
Said teammate Draymond Green: “I thought there was no chance he was playing tonight”.
TNT analyst and former player Charles Barkley wants nothing to do with dynasty talk regarding the Warriors.
“We know with Korver, since he’s been here they do a good job of locking into him”, Lue said. “The Bulls won six, the Spurs won five. Winning two in four years is not a dynasty”. That leaves one last season at Oracle Arena.
Yet the performance – with the sprint-and-shoot element of Curry’s game coming alive – highlights something meaningful about the Warriors. “They’re a unsafe ballclub no matter what”, James said. The Cavs outscored the Warriors 21-10 in second-chance points in Game 1, then outscored the Warriors 19-9 in second-chance points in Game 2. He did all he could do, but there just wasn’t anything else that the King could have done in order to lead his team to a win and even the series at 1-1. Incredible as it is to say, James is playing at a higher level this season while Kevin Love, who looked lost for much of the 2016 series, has been quietly efficient with 43 points and 23 rebounds over the first two games.
44 – If it weren’t for the Cavs already being out of the game with just over four minutes remaining, No. 23 would have played all 48 minutes.
When approached with this information, Curry told ESPN: “I’m not going to get into it. But, you know, they didn’t call it, so it’s over”. But there is an awareness of where we were to where we are. “And I appreciate it”.
