Stephen Curry: Stephen Curry scores 26 points, Dubs now 26-1
Draymond Green (No. 23) of the Golden State Warriors tries to dribble between T.J. Warren (right) and Eric Bledsoe during their 128-103 win over the Phoenix Suns at Oracle Arena on Wednesday. I will take the Warriors if Klay Thompson plays, but if he don’t I may lean towards the Celtics.
“We’re a long way past just beating the Milwaukee Bucks in December”, he said. “We’re trying to compete for a championship”.
Green pushed away Mayo’s arm before getting into a bit of a shoving match with the Bucks’ Khris Middleton. Like, the kind of zeal that leaves multiple superstars sneering about a mediocre player on a mediocre team enjoying a meaningless basket in a relatively meaningless game. Green was clearly disturbed by the mostly verbal run-in, later insisting, “No man is going to touch my head”.
“The perspective of being 24-1 is a little different than undefeated”, star guard Stephen Curry said.
Golden State won its eighth in a row at home against Phoenix, fifth straight overall and 13th in 16. Curry, who had been sluggish until the final stretch of the contest, scored seven points in the final five minutes and assisted on Andre Iguodala’s dagger 3-pointer from the corner, which gave the Warriors a five-point lead with 1:21 remaining in the game.
“We were very public about the fact that we wanted to get revenge”.
“I know we live in the moment”, Barkley said. “If you’re going to say that about another team you should expect… they’re not going to fold”. Monroe’s absence doesn’t fully account for the team’s declining results on the defensive perimeter, where they were torched for 21 3-pointers combined by the Lakers and Clippers. The Pistons scored the first seven points of the fourth OT and hung on.
In their first meeting since the Clippers eliminated the Spurs in a sensational first-round playoff duel last season, San Antonio produced an 11-0 scoring run to open the fourth quarter and held on for the victory.
But after all the pregame trash talk mostly coming from the Warriors, the Bucks came out and threw a huge punch on the court and led 70-58 at halftime. Minnesota had lost eight of its previous nine games.
So it comes as no surprise that the Warriors have processed the sting of recent defeat and visions of that fairly tame Michael Carter-Williams celebration into pure, seething spite. Jahlil Okafor scored 20 points for the Sixers in their ninth straight loss. Dennis Schroder scored 22 for the Hawks, including five during an 11-2 run midway through the fourth quarter that put them ahead for good.
The revelation came after Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo was suspended one game for directing what the league called “a derogatory and offensive term” at Kennedy after being ejected from a game earlier this month. Rodney Stuckey had 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench. And the Suns could only muster 37 points combined, which was nine less than the Warriors had in the third quarter alone. Alex Len added 19 points and 13 rebounds, including his first three-pointer of the season with 15 seconds to play. He missed one game this season because of lower back spasms.
Derrick Rose scored a season-high 34 for Chicago.
